NAD+ supplier document: a naming clarification

The supplier document linked from our NAD+ product page uses two different compound names. This note sets out what the document shows, which name matches the NAD+ we list, and what the document does not establish.

This is a PEPTALIAS clarification, not a correction from the issuer. The original document is unchanged.

Which name matches NAD+

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) and nicotinamide riboside (NR) are different compounds. CAS number 53-84-9 is the registry number for NAD+ (ChEBI 15846). The formula in the product table, with two phosphorus atoms and a molecular weight above 660 g/mol, also describes a dinucleotide. Nicotinamide riboside has a different registry number (CAS 1341-23-7), no phosphorus and a molecular weight of about 255 (ChEBI 15927).

Every identifier in the document points to NAD+, the compound we list. The words “Nicotinamide Riboside” appear only in the page heading, and we treat them as an error in that heading. The issuer has not yet confirmed or corrected it.

What the document does not establish

  • The document describes itself as a reference template for customer consultation. It is not a test result for the vials we currently hold.
  • We have not verified a link between this document and current stock, or any particular strength.
  • It is the supplier’s own document, not an independent laboratory test.
